program of activities targeted to upper secondary school teachers and students, with the aim to:<br>&#8211; establish sustainable networks of research centers, schools and science centers;<br>&#8211; develop, validate and disseminate innovative teaching models, tools and resources inspired to the Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE) approach;<br>&#8211; validate and promote use of Web 2.0, multimedia and digital technologies in didactics.<br>AS has been founded in 2012 in order to absorb and carry on the successful educational program running at the Italian Outstation of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Monterotondo (Rome).<br>Core activities are aimed at transforming the IBSE approach into common teaching practice, through Advanced Teacher Training and Science Education projects in schools and at science centers. Notably, in 2017 AS has launched the first International Summer School in Life Science \u201cSummer in Science\u201d in collaboration with the EMBL.<br>AS also aims at increasing scientific awareness to the public at large, reducing the gap between science and society and preparing young students and families to informed and open-minded choices, required by the progress and discoveries in Science and Technology. This commitment is confirmed by AS active participation to the most important European scientific outreach events.<br>The Association relies on the solid experience of its expert science educators and co-founders, accrued over more than 10 years of activity in the field of science education and dissemination within the international context of the EMBL. AS continues to operate within the EMBL Campus and in close liaison with the EMBL scientists, and with the Institute of Cell Biology and Neurobiology of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). Her research projects focused on the study of\u00a0central nervous system diseases and resulted in several publications on the most relevant scientific journals. In 2007 she joined the education team of EMBL as Science Educator and established an educational programme for science teachers at the EMBL Monterotondo Outstation that lasted until 2013.<br>As co-founder of Adamas\u00a0\u00a0Scienza, since 2012 she is involved in planning, developing and implementing the educational programme of the Association. <br>She has participated to the main European Science Outreach events by developing life science activities aimed at the lay public.\u00a0Finally, she is Associate Editor of \u201cFrontiers for Young Minds\u201d, a no-profit scientific journal providing freely available scientific articles by distinguished scientists that are shaped for younger audiences. His research projects focused on the study of\u00a0central nervous system (development and neurodegeneration) and on muscle biology (development and pathology) and resulted in several publications on the most relevant scientific journals. In 2009 he joined the education team of EMBL as Science Educator until 2012 when he co-founded the no-profit association Adamas\u00a0Scienza.
